I fear when I forget I am relying on Jesus to not be afraid.

Faith that He is strong enough.

Peter was walking on the water toward Jesus until he saw the size of the waves that surrounded him.

It was then that he began to sink. Such is he that takes his eyes off Jesus.

He has shown Himself to strong enough. Defeating death itself.

I am so easily terrified when I take my eyes off Him.

“…I no longer live but Christ lives in me”.

A friend mentioned to me recently how we have become too introspective.

Always looking inward in order to change. Yet our only hope for change is to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord. To behold Him as king. To ignore the waves and be steadfast in Jesus.

It’s about time I start trusting in the One who has shown Himself to be strong enough.

I am struggling to grapple with the knowledge that You are so grand yet can be known so intimately by Your children.

I guess this was the knowledge that was “too lofty to attain” for David in Psalm 139.  What is even greater is not that You can be so intimately known but that You intimately know Your children, all those who look to Jesus as Lord, all those who place their hope in Him!

In our strivings to know You, we forget that You know us! We can only love You because You first loved us.

May we continue wrestle with You in Your word and be given a new name just like Jacob. Remembering that we are not our former selves but are both made and being made new in Christ.

Where can I flee from Your presence? And what can seperate me from Your love?

You have always fought on behalf of Your children. Yet how often we claim the victory for ourselves.

You won the final battle in Jesus. In whom we were set free and can now live.

King of the Universe, King of History, King of my Heart.

Help me to submit to and follow You.

Dear Lord Jesus,

On my knees and pleading before You, wash me with Your words.

They are a rock that doesn’t crumble. Steadfast and true.

May I desire them above all else. May they still my mind until You are all I see.

May they be my joy and delight.

Hebrews 12:2 “Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfector of our faith, who for the joy set before Him, endured the cross, scorning its shame and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God”

Rejoicing in the fact that You stand before God in my place so I can know Him as my heavenly Father.

As I fix my gaze, change my heart. Flood my mind with all You are.

“Turn Your eyes upon Jesus.

Look full in His wonderful face.

And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,

In the light of His glory and grace.”

As I am tempted to turn my eyes toward myself, turn them toward you my King.

Yoked to Jesus

Matthew 11:29-30 “Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light”

A yoke is designed to enable animals to work in pairs to carry a burden or pull a load.

What a privilege that we are joined to One who is stronger!

He knows we are weary yet still draws us in and calls us to be yoked to Him.

He knows we are weak yet still draws us in to depend on His strength.

He knows we fall but still holds us with His righteous hand.

He knows we try to run the other way but still by His grace keeps us in Him.

He knows we fret by still maintains His authority and control.

Lord Jesus, may we run to You with more boldness as you enable us, that we might rest safe and secure yoked to You always.

Train this heart and mind to relinquish control and know the safety of being counted righteous in You.
